Fit is important. Our goal is to work with a limited number of families that are great fits. We can't be all things to all clients and quality of service tends to suffer if we try to work with too many families.
We aren't for everyone. If you're looking for the cheapest firm or just investment management, we're not the best fit for each other.
We are not a low-cost provider. To do that, we would have to eliminate many of the services that provide the most value for our clients.
However, if you're looking for a comprehensive, integrated approach to your overall financial situation, let's talk.
Our process.
1. We meet to see if we may be a good fit for each other.
2. We gather information to prepare our preliminary observations. (Tax returns, estate planning documents, bank, investment and retirement statement, insurance policies, etc.)
3. We meet again to discuss those observations and if and how we can add value, relationship options, and costs.
4. We both go sleep on it for a couple of days. This decision is too important to make quickly.
5. If we decide we are right for each other, then we will really get into the details of your life, developing your plan, and implementing our recommendations.
6. Regularly review your progress and make necessary adjustments as your situation, needs and goals evolve.
Our fees are based on your situation, needs, and the services rendered. We have two basic options.
1. Just a Plan.
Think of this as going to an architect with your dreams. We will help you develop a comprehensive plan (blueprints).
You will be responsible for implementing the recommendations…tax, investment, insurance, estate, etc. This engagement typically lasts 3-6 months and does not include ongoing investment management.
For this option, we charge a flat fee.
2. Ongoing relationship based on comprehensive financial planning and investment management.
We will help develop the plan (blueprints) and serve as the general contractor, hire the sub-contractors, build it, and provide ongoing maintenance and repairs. This is how we serve the majority of our families.
For this option, we typically charge a percentage of the total household portfolio value that we manage for you.
A successful relationship is based on 2-way communication, mutual respect, honesty, trust, and participation.
Be engaged. Meet with us regularly, either in-person, phone, Zoom, or email. Please read the emails we send you and reply when appropriate.
Share information. The more we understand about you, your family, and your financial situation, the more value we can provide. The quality of our advice depends on the quality fo information you share with us. Everything is confidential by law.
Ask questions. This stuff can be unfamiliar and confusing sometimes. Ask questions until you feel comfortable with a concept or recommendation.
Speak up. If you’re concerned or confused about something, please let us know. If you don't tell us, we'll assume everything is ok.
